Ribose first to achieve CSA STAR Certification under new CCM 3.0 cloud security standard

Ribose first to achieve CSA STAR Certification under new CCM 3.0 cloud security standard

Hong Kong, 10 March, 2014 – Ribose, a start-up that redefines the way people collaborate, is the first to achieve STAR Certification from the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) fully compliant to the new cloud security standard: Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM) 3.0.

This certification means that Ribose is committed to protecting user information to the greatest extent possible. Users can be confident their privacy and data will always be respected and protected, and that they can collaborate freely on Ribose to innovate and succeed with their teams.

Ribose is currently the only organization to achieve STAR Certification compliance under the new CCM 3.0 standard. It is one of only two organizations worldwide to achieve Gold Certification, the highest level, based on its security measures and controls as assessed by the British Standards Institution (BSI). Ribose is also the first software-as-a-service (SaaS) cloud service provider to achieve STAR Certification under CCM 3.0 with SaaS services fully covered in the certification scope.

STAR Certification is the first internationally recognized cloud security certification program. Developed jointly by the CSA and BSI, it places stringent and extensive requirements and controls on information security management systems, including comprehensive coverage of cloud security. Certification is awarded only after a CSA-recognized independent auditor conducts a thorough audit and verifies that the organization’s applications, systems, processes and services fully comply with STAR’s requirements, including ISO/IEC 27001 and CCM 3.0.

According to David Horlock, Asia Pacific Managing Director, BSI, “CSA STAR Certification is a rigorous assessment by a CSA-recognized independent body and provides customers with a benchmark to make informed decisions on cloud services. Achieving the Gold award shows Ribose’s leadership and commitment to delivering professional and secure cloud services through world-class best practices”.

“CSA STAR Certification is a comprehensive, industry-accepted program covering numerous security control areas and capabilities”, said Jim Reavis, CEO of CSA. “As the first to adopt and verify compliance with the new CCM 3.0 cloud security standard, Ribose has demonstrated its commitment to cloud security, giving users confidence to collaborate freely on the Ribose platform”.

Ribose achieves ISO/IEC 27001 certification

Ribose: first consumer-focused social collaboration platform to achieve ISO/IEC 27001 certification

Hong Kong, 21 October 2013 – Ribose, a start-up that is redefining the way individuals and organizations collaborate to get better results, today announced that it has achieved ISO/IEC 27001 certification covering all aspects of the company, including its social collaboration platform.

The certification was awarded by the British Standards Institute (BSI), the originator of the ISO/IEC 27001 standard. Ribose is the first – and currently the only – non-enterprise, consumer-focused collaboration platform to achieve this certification. This strongly demonstrates that stringent controls on information security are integral to all processes within Ribose.

ISO/IEC 27001 is an international standard that specifies wide-ranging requirements for implementing, operating, maintaining and improving an information security management system. Certification is awarded only after a neutral independent accredited auditor has conducted a thorough audit has assessed and verified that the organization’s applications, systems, processes and services comply with the standard.

“As a cloud collaboration platform provider, Ribose is committed to safeguarding user information to the highest standards,” explains Ronald Tse, founder of Ribose. “We’re proud to announce that the scope of our certification is as comprehensive as possible: it fully covers our organization and our collaboration platform, from design, development and operations to support processes. Our users can be confident that their privacy and data will always be respected and protected and that they can collaborate freely on Ribose to innovate and succeed with their teams.”

Emmanuel Herve, managing director of BSI Hong Kong and VP Standards and Professional Service of BSI Asia Pacific, echoes these sentiments: “With an extensive certification scope, Ribose’s ISO/IEC 27001 certification gives stakeholders and customers a powerful guarantee that their information will always be safely handled. We’re proud to have raised the bar in social collaboration security and enabled more individuals and organizations to work successfully with Ribose.”

BOSTON, Sept. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Ribose has announced the launch of a new online platform designed to simplify the way groups of all sizes collaborate.  The new web platform, www.ribose.com, brings together an unmatched collection of tools, applications and widgets that harness the real-time, social and cloud-based flexibility of today's internet to help streamline, organize and plan anything from a small family gathering to a social club's ongoing activities.

Understanding that the underlying concept of any successful collaboration is the generation of ideas, and sharing of experiences, the new Ribose platform capitalizes on today's social web to help users stay in constant contact with collaborators, as well as offering public spaces designed to share common contexts, uncover new ideas and discover new resources through social connections.

"Collaborating on group activities of any size always involve plenty of opinions, questions and the need for constant last minute discussions on a myriad of details," said Ronald Tse, Ribose Founder and CEO.  "The vision for Ribose was to create a platform that harnesses the power of the casual collaboration people now use every day on the social web to provide them with a customizable space designed around the context of the project, not just the available toolset."

The new Ribose site offers over 10 collaborative toolsets designed to organize group activities and content around topics, not the tools, so that users can fully benefit from a comprehensive suite of features while customizing particular toolsets to meet the specific needs of their activity or event.  Ribose was designed with a clean, minimalistic interface style, allowing for users to choose from an array of color palettes and themes to satisfy their own unique design aesthetic. • Collaborative Applications (Capps): bring together a specific mix of features and tools customized to particular topics, ensuring users have the right set of tools and functionality for the specific type of collaboration they are undertaking.

  • My Applications (Mapps): allow users to keep track of their activities on Ribose, offers widgets, profiles and contact information, as well as an aggregate look across individual collaborations – including personal calendar views, to-do lists and chat logs.
